Burundi: Italian Episcopal Conference and Bururi Diocese

Local Partner: Italian Episcopal Conference and Bururi Diocese St Joseph Technical School

Recipients: 760 students

Harambee’s contribution:  $5,000

Harambee’s support is transforming the daily lives of 760 students at St. Joseph Technical School by addressing the critical infrastructure needs that stand in the way of academic success. While the school provides essential vocational training, the students’ living conditions required urgent intervention to ensure their health and dignity. This project focuses on replacing worn-out mattresses to provide adequate rest, renovating the aging kitchen facilities to meet modern hygiene standards, and revitalizing the school’s agricultural and livestock sectors. By upgrading these facilities, the project ensures that students are no longer hindered by poor sleep or inadequate nutrition, creating a holistic environment where they can thrive both physically and mentally.

Activity: Improve student well-being and health through infrastructure upgrades and sustainable food production, ensuring that vulnerable youth have the stability required to complete their technical education and achieve self-reliance.
